Gerbils!

Meet Lucy (in the Sky with Diamonds) and Crystal (Barbie Fairy Secret)!!! I would have chosen "Chicken and Piglet" myself but, not my gerbils;)

It is fortunate we decided to adopt one little and one big because Finley can't actually hold Crystal (the big one) because her claws are too sharp. They are very sweet and friendly and seem to like us too:) I now know that nothing is cuter than a little kid holding a tiny furry animal.

Freee!

I am free. I am free from school for the summer. My mind is free - knowing I did the very best I could and have no regrets or hangups. I highly recommend challenging yourself - intense personal achievement is an awesome feeling. :) I earned a 4.0gpa for the entire freshman year and am just waiting for my letter from the nursing program welcoming me IN.
I am free to have a fantastic summer with my kid (and Craig!) on THIS:
 Hauls heavy bags o laundry!

Originally, I was going to sell my camera for this bike but an iPhone can't do THIS:
So, I'm keeping my camera and just hope it all works out somehow.

Here's to being five and to being forty two and to Summer and here's to feeling good and Freeeeee!

5th Birthday Bliss

It began with a cupcake party in the classroom. The party favors were Pop Rocks and whistles on strings around their necks that they could blow during the parade (though parents are surely seriously hating me right now.) Then we all marched in a boisterous and musical-ish parade through the Brooklyn Botanical garden to the Prospect Park Carousel.  I have known these kids for almost a year but I always see them pretty subdued - waiting in line to go into school or come out and it was totally thrilling to see them running free through the grass and being SO excited. When we arrived at the carousel, it was basically deserted so we had the run of the place for a while. This Carousel is 100 years old this year - it's truly magical. More kids from school showed up and then even more. With siblings and a couple of other kids from her old day school, it ended up being about 20 kids. Jayda, Shafiett, Danicia, Caylee, Malaysia (yes.), Jeanaya, Nazir, Richard, Ethan are just a few of the names I want to remember. After the Carousel we went to the Lefferts House for some serious Olden Days play. Then we said goodbye to all the friends and Craig, Finley and I went to the Sean Casey Animal Rescue Center. We picked out TWO little Gerbils for this long-awaited and much-planned-for present. They are VERY cute. Both girls, one is big one is little. Gerbil blog coming later soon. The whole day was terrific and I think Finley will remember it when she's 85:)

Last Days of Four.

Everyday this week we wake up talking about how this is the last "four" Monday, Tuesday etc... well, today is the last four day, Period! Wow. I have loved every minute. Even those extremely bad seeming ones.

Here she is this morning with her very awesome birthday gift from those West Coasties we love. Personalized M&Ms. Really one of the best things you could ever give an almost 5 year old. Specialness. :)))) And yes, we eat chocolate for breakfast on special days!

Her new favorite colors - Black and Red! Wow, that was fast. For the record, I do NOT like this new blogger format!
