Incredible, She's TWO!

Birthday morning with Mama (pancakes and adventures) nap and rough house with Papa and then Grancops and Bebe came out to Brooklyn to go the amazing Prospect Park with us for presents and cupcakes. It was a beautiful day that was just perfect in everyway (for me at least - I hope she feels the same:) Oh, and I feel I must explain - that is a birthday tutu from Bebe on my head. Maybe my favorite picture of myself, ever!

Megan We Miss You!!

We couldn't have don't it without you. What WOULD we have done? We shudder to think... Here's to hoping home is that much more wonderful now that you have seen some more of the world not to mention the darker sides of Cami and Craig. You always have a home in Brooklyn - that is unless we move! Oh, and Happy Graduation!!!

So Long Greenwich Village, Hello Park Slope

My beloved Minetta Street apartment has proven itself unhabitable by us now that we are three (it was pushing it when just the two of us to be honest).

Tomorrow we sign the lease for an entire 1/2 floor (4th floor) of 157 Garfield in Park Slope - we figure it is roughly 1100 square feet which makes it bigger than our first house! It is two blocks from Prospect Park, one block from a GREAT school and close to every bit of goodness that The Slope has to offer. A couple crazy weeks ahead with the move and shedding the other TWO places we currently live. We signed the contracts to sell the house today. Craig and I seem to have crazy things happening all the time but we say "UNCLE!" Stop the ride we want OFF!! Though, it is just beginning to sink in that maybe we will be okay after all...

The Dreyer Family Band Record Release Trip/Party!!!

Some sun, lots of good times, a website and a record release party later and now we are back home... The two-year old cousins had their sometimes hilarious sometimes exhausting "you can't have it" and "I think I might have to smack you" times together, mixed in with a little stomach bug where we stared at each other with green faces and grumbling tummies wondering "WHY??!!" About half the family narrowly escaped. It's rainy in New York and miss you guys somethin' terrible. See you soon for the planning of the next one! More party photos over at the Plump Otter. More photos and videos of the trip after some sleeeeeeeep.

Miss Bossy

Or "Maestro" as I like to call her - she knows exactly what everyone should be doing and isn't afraid to tell/show you. I will never forget the first time: it was months ago (16 months old maybe?) and she made Craig and I hold all of her dollies (adding one or two at a time till we were holding them all) and then we had to make them dance while she played the piano, Craig shakes his head "poor kid, she's got it bad." Well now it is full on and all the time (Bebe can attest).

A couple other things I don't ever want to forget; she's sitting in her car seat with the first spring window down blowing on her Easter pinwheel, head thrown back, lips puckered - fully enjoying the wind whipping all over her sunny face. And; we are on the road to the house - she tries to stretch her arms out the window yelling "Hi Treees!! Hey, Trees - come home? Come ON!!! With Me! No? Okay, you stay here - Don't Move! Be riiiight back!"

Easter Madness!!!

We had a lot to do and there were many snafus but we ended up having a great and exciting easter weekend. Our planned and much anticipated first big easter egg hunt in Central Park was rained out. Plan B, Granpops and Bebe made a great hunt in their apartment where the easter bunny even knocked on the door and left her basket. Craig and I went downtown to soundproof the apartment some more and pick up Sandy. After a quick and lovely dinner, we all headed back upstate. We woke on Sunday and had a little in the yard then Sandy and I headed back down to the City to move. some... More STUFF! I love the picture of the egg mess - that happened when we left her alone and it was quiet too long... she couldn't figure out why some eggs had prizes inside and others this mushy yellow and white stuff:)

A Moment

I am having a moment where I am not planning to, or preparing to, or actually moving some object. I am also not trying desperately to finish some album art. Nor am I caring for my baby. Or working or trying to work (ha! work!! what's that!!?) SO, I happily have a moment to offer you these...

West Village Girl

A little poem/song from her Aunt Annie - had to share...

Baby Finley is living
happy in the city
take a walk, glide a slide, chase a bird

Then to Mac Dougal for falafel
Then an earful in the square
A musician over there
Little bosa nova twirl

Then go over to the gents
playing chess Chat em up
skip around with the bongo sounds
flying in the air

Walk some mileage, use her smile-age
Cast her spell far and wide
With Baby Finley in the city
one just can never tell

Doors open, hearts melt
cabbies honking, good is spreading
It’s her town while she’s growing
Up a west village girl

Yes! Finley is living
Sitting pretty in the city
Cutie baby growing up to be
a west village girl.

Country Mice No More...

We are soon to be City Mice - exclusively. For nine years we have lived up here in Pawling and it has become apparent for many reasons that we need to go back in the city - full time. We have very mixed feelings about this decision but there really isn't much choice. I swing wildly from weeping to excited - anticipation to dread. Needless to say this has kept us all busy with crazy logistics - I haven't been this tired since the early days when Finley was born.

Step 1 - Find, prepare and move Mighty Toad, the recording studio.
Step 2 - Gently ask roommate to leave and take back over our Minetta Street apartment. Clean, prepare and move what we think we can comfortably take with us.
Step 3 - Have estate sale and sell most of what is left.
Step 4 - Put the rest in storage.
As of today we are still on steps one and two... We accept prayers and luck, please.

The new studio needed lots of paint and TLC!! Mitch is not pictured because I accidentally erased all pics from first day. We were literally flinging painting - only had Tomo for 3 hours... Tomo - most awesome babysitter! She kept Finley happy in the 8x8 vocal booth for while we painted and it rained outside!
