On our way to my school a few weeks ago I caught her reaction as we turned the corner and she saw her first Christmas tree of the season.
School ended officially for me today and tomorrow for her. Let the Christmas Celebrations begin!!

The Scariest Halloween Ever

With all the destruction and horrible things happening around New York and beyond, this Halloween week was doomed. Yesterday we salvaged what we could, took a walk around the hood, had a few laughs and gathered much candy. Finley was Hermoine Granger. Craig resurrected "the scary old man" once again though this year he looked like Dumbledore to me. The best was when we passed a restaurant where an elderly couple were having dinner - the old guy had long white hair and a moustache - he and Craig had a hilarious conversation through the glass. "Brother! - you never call!" I was going to be an insane nursing student zombie... meaning myself, essentially, but was then stricken by a brilliant and simple idea... a white (ish) sheet! I love a good ole scary ghost. Another great moment was at the end of the night while giving out candy on our stoop Finley just starting running up and down the street with other neighbor kids giving candy to everyone. "Really? Even though we are grown ups and um, not wearing costumes? Thanks!"

Murray

We lost Murray today. One week ago he was a happy and seemingly healthy cat but then last Sunday he started acting strangely and that behavior progressed very quickly. The vet ultimately thought it was a brain tumor but we can never know for sure. We will miss him forever and talk about him every day. I was a cat obsessed little girl when i was growing up and that Murray fulfilled every kitty fantasy I ever had. And then some.

Finley said "I am sure going to miss him - he meows much better than I do."

 

 "Murray Man, Murray Man, he's the best cat in the Land" - our favorite song to sing to him.

Nursing School, Violin, Tooth!

Well, it has been 3 weeks since I started and I must confess nursing school is kicking my BUTT. It is a lot of work. A ridiculous TON of work that makes me feel like I am on candid camera sometimes but I refuse to let it get me down. In It To Win It, as they say... Here I am with my spiffy new and super-lucious Littman stethoscope that my cousin Phebe gifted me.

Other big news is Craig and Finley went to Sam Ash and his friend Ellen gave them the special treatment in picking out her instrument of choice - a sweet little violin. Her first lesson was Friday but the teacher was not so great so we will be finding another very soon.

There is also the recent issue of a very loose tooth in our household. First loose toooooooooth!

And today I finally got to take her to school myself. The walk took 3 min. Love that and school is amazing too;)

First Day Kindergarten!

A big moment we've all been waiting for!!! She was excited and had a little trouble sleeping, a little worried about the newness. Craig got to take her as I was in school already.
