Here We Go!

The sonogram this morning indicated that baby was totally okay, but amniotic fluid was low - SO we are going to the birth center NOW to start the induction process.... We didn't really want it to go down this way, but what are you gonna do? I feel a little like it could be starting on it's own so maybe we will get lucky and medical intervention will be kept at a minimum. Either way we will probably have a real live baby in our hot little hands by tomorrow! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's a picture of the last cheeseburger dinner:)

The Dreyer Baby Call Center

"Hi, and thanks for calling the Dreyer Baby Hotline:

Please listen carefully as the options may have changed:

If you are wondering why you have not been contacted about the birth of the baby, PRESS 1

If you are wondering why the baby has not come yet, PRESS 2 and get in line behind us

For all other inquiries please hold. You may experience a longer than usual hold time due to high call volumes. Your call will not be answered in the order it was received."

She's a Gemini!!!

I checked on Friday and thought it started on May 22, but I was wrong - Gemini starts today! May 21 - June 21!! I was kind of hoping she would wait the few more days and she did:) Now bring it ON - I am going to have eggplant parm for dinner - maybe lunch too! We are going to WALK all day - there are a few other things to try, but my parents may be reading this so I will keep it clean....:) Matt picked May 22 - it's all you, Matt!

Two Days Overdue

Yesterday we went to see a zombie movie and ate tons of sugar all day - that didn't work. Today we went for a loooong walk in Lakeside Park, played catch in the yard and ate all good food - so far nada. Hey, at least we're havin' fun.

SIX

Is the sense some people have, the amount of notes in a whole-tone scale, and repeated three times is the sign of the beast...It is also how many years Craig and I have been married. Yay for us! (oh, and still no baby.)

Happy Birthday Big Brother Scott!!!

According to the due date, the baby was going to share a birthday with my brother Scott. Alas, it is not meant to be - Scott gets the day all to himself and we are all still wondering.... Have a great one, Brofus with The Mostus! Love You....

May 18 - One Fully Cooked Baby

Come out come out wherever you are!!! I was sure we were going to have the baby yesterday. Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday I started getting contractions about 20 minutes apart and they lasted pretty much all night. When I got up for good (up and down all night - now? now?) they seemd to stop altogether with not much happening the rest of the day or night. There seems to be an overall hardening which is making me feel less "big" but that's about it. If nothing happens by Monday (when she is safely a Gemini) I am going to get creative with some tips for induction. Annie's was Castor Oil. Calling all people for suggestions....

Gracie's Here!

Yahoo! Gracie's in the house, but still no baby.... Doctor today said 80% effaced and still 1 cm.... But even she sounded like she was guessing with the effacement. Nobody knows. I give her till Monday, then I am busting out the Castor Oil (tip by Annie).

Torpedo!

40 Week Belly!!!
As of two weeks ago I am 50% effaced 1 cm - 3 days till the due date - doctor visit tomorrow - STAY TUNED!

Thanks, Anne!

My dear Aunt Anne (and the baby's namesake - her middle name with either be Anne or Marianna) sent me a "MommyHood" present - beautiful Zulu earings she picked up on her trip to Arizona.
It got me thinking about another strange phenomenon (perpetrated by the diamond business, I suspect) called The Push Present. Women seriously get large jewlery presents as a "bonus" for pushing out the baby on the big day. Why does this make me feel icky? It also reminds me of "the right-hand ring."

The Lasts

I have always been fascinated with "lasts." As a human, life is full of uncertainty - not much to do about it. I am no great philosopher, but I think I learned to cope with this reality at a young age by marking "lasts" as I noticed them (this is the last time I will go to my junior high locker, this is the last time I will sleep in this room, etc....) I still catch myself doing it today and this weekend definitely was a last that needs marking... Gracie was due to arrive on Monday for two weeks for support (for another post soon to come) and we all know then there will be a baby - forever (hopefully as long is there is a "me" there will be my baby). Anyway, all this to say that this weekend was the last time for Craig and I as a dazzling duo. We will not be "alone" in the larger sense of the word ever again. Sure we will have "alone time", but you get my drift. We had a great day that started with the annual library book sale in Pawling, then a walk in the park then on to Kent, CT. - walking in the sunshine going to lunch, funky shops and old book stores. Lots of laughs - it was a great day. Then it was Sunday, my FIRST "Mother's Day" which I admit I don't feel fully part of that club yet, but am definitely in the initiation phase. We spent the day digging in the dirt to prepare some wildflower beds. There are a couple pics of the tulips my Aunt Anne sent us to plant last fall, we are proud of them because we had to fight the squirrels and deer for them - we won! - secret weapon? - a daily golden shower from Craig!

Diapercat

Murray was only mildly humiliated in the making of this video:) He has been the "tester" for all the baby gear by his own free will - you can walk into the room and there's Murray in the stroller - oh, and there's Murray in the co-sleeper, I even busted him on the changing table the other day. Here is what happened when we received our new order of cloth diapers. Please... don't call PETA on us.

Cole's First Birthday

The redheaded baby Diane kept begging me for ended up being her own grandson. Cole turned a year last weekend and we all spent a great day at Murrow Park, hanging out, eating and playing. A whole day at the park - it was a lot of fun even though I'm not moving that well or fast these days. Craig and I did get in a few rounds of catch though:)

Luke playing his birthday harmonica! We gifted him early because we will probably not be able to attend his party on the 23rd.

Funk Dumplin'

Some people have a bun in the oven...
we have a FUNK DUMPLING!

Cami brought the baby out to the studio to hear some tunes...I played "Embraceable You", "Body and Soul" among others. You are never too young to learn your standards.

It's a little dark and I am having trouble getting it up, but hopefully here it is! All done, just add baby!! Thanks again, Sandy!

Some photos too, because the video's too dark:
