5am

Craig came home early early in the a.m. from work and starting snoring so loudly that I couldn't sleep but didn't have the heart to do my usual "D!... D!!! Roll over!!" so I got up, stumbled to the kitchen (because that's where we go in the middle of the night:) - looked out our back window and saw this... my reward for being a nice wife-y.

The Dog Days of Brooklyn

Gone are the endless rainy days of June 2009. It has been consistently hot and sunny for a couple weeks - yowza! A couple highlights for this week... We made it over to the Prospect Park Zoo which was small but sweet and in need of much tlc. The amazing thing is we have a zoo we can walk to! Then on Friday, Finley and I went with Grandpops and Bebe to her great uncle Donald's house on Long Island. He had some great pictures of Finley's Great Grandmother Margaret. It was also our first big cookout of the summer and it made me wonder why, oh why can't I hate hot dogs? Sometimes I post and I feel like a dope - this is one of those times...

The Sun Sets On Minetta Street

Ten years later and now it's truly goodbye to Minetta Street. Yesterday received a "10 days to cure" letter from a lawyer that basically says we are BUSTED and can no longer sublet (I forgot that was illegal:) No we are now forced to give it up for good.

Here is an ode to the cockroach (a frequent visitor in the apartment and my absolute least favorite insect - that I am aware of:) but that I also feel strangely akin to due to their hearty nature!::))) I bought this great poem from a street poet on my corner years ago...

Not that there aren't cockroaches in Brooklyn!

Dashiki Love from the West

Finley got the grooviest dashiki in the mail today from Mac, Emmett, and Silas. Dashiki, a diaper and a trip to the library...awesome!

Not Your Average Fare...

What a week! What do Microsoft and ballroom dancing have in common? Nothing except that both are mostly what our week consisted of! Tuesday and Wednesday Craig and Finley and I did a print job for Microsoft. Fun in an icky sort of way. Just seeing them style Craig like a total square was worth it for me, personally. The first day was shot on the street and in a cafe in Brooklyn the second day was family scenes in Greenwich, CT at the most amazing house I have ever seen (that's the tree house that goes with the actual house:) Here's Finley in her bliss digging through her pretend Grandma's purse, though not as good as good as Bebe's. (Granpops and Bebe were up for the job too:)

We came home from the first day to find Fin checking out the rain with her babysitter Tomo.

Then yesterday we went to check out our beloved Aunt Anne from St. Louis do her thing (competition ballroom dancing!) at the Marriott here in Brooklyn. She and her instructor, Vassily were awesome. I have been dying to see this for years now and finally got my chance - I could have watched this stuff for days. What a world! The competition is finished tomorrow and she is staying the weekend with us - our first house guest. Woohoooooo!
