Dream Gig at The Beacon Theater!!

This year the 30th Annual John Lennon Tribute was a benefit for Playing for Change (who had several performers present and sang "Imagine" - so awesome!!) Craig got the call and I got to go! Here is the write up about it from Rolling Stone. The quality of these videos kind of suck and they are tiny because I was sitting 2nd row balcony and didn't want to be the annoying person with camera phone up in the air in people's faces. The pictures are a little better...

Here he is playing with Taj Mahal!! and Keb Mo - "You Can't Do That"

And here on flute with Jackson Browne "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" (just one little Hey!)

Here is the flute solo at the end. He said that was the hardest part - staying cool and calm in the midst of the excitement and playing a slow, gentle flute solo. He really delivered the goods the whole show.

He also played some flute on "Day in The Life" with Cyndi Lauper and Jackson Browne but the video was no good. Finally we have "Power to the People" with everyone. The sound doesn't get right until about 11 seconds just in time for the sax solo. That's Patti Smith walking across the stage.

There was a lot of sitting around during the two days of rehearsals and gig. He got to hang out and talk with Jackson Browne and Keb Mo and unbelievably had a bite to eat alone with Taj Mahal!! For me the whole night was magic. What a bright star Lennon was, what a great project Playing for Change is, and what a musician our Craig D is!! As Finley says, "Rockin!!"

I can't even believe what an awesome combination of people, music, concept and place you got going on here!
Craig, you're great! I love it that we got these little snippets of you on sax and flute. The kids were
completely amazed that you were with the "playing for change" folks, they love that.
Personally,Taj Mahal blows my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite for sososososo long.
Really a dream gig. I so wish I could've been there.
Just awesome!

btw Annie...
the playing for change guys were SO good. the best energy and most entertaining entertainers of the whole thing. i tried and failed to find the video of them doing their thing to "imagine" - definitely worth finding... the founders were there too and Craig said that guy is one of the nicest people on the planet for real. The number that had me smiling the biggest though was Taj Mahal and his daughter Deva doing "come together" the other background singer seemed like a young girlfriend of hers and they were giggling and elbowing each other doing the "sssshhhhh" part at the beginning. I don't know it was just so sweet. Her voice is powerful - a force to reckon with in her own right... and looks just like him. Big and beeoootiful!

OH MY GOD! WHAT FUN!!
CRAIG, YOU"RE AWESOME!!!
You all must have had such a great time and what an amazing event!
Not only to be playing and hanging with such a remarkable group of musicians but also to be performing at the Beacon and to be there for this particular reason... All so high making!
Cami, yoou radiate gorgeosity as usual and Craig, what greater affermation than to have your daughter call you "Rockin'"!
You guys make me ooze love. Is that gross?! Okay, you make love flow from my heart, through my body and out into the world. Kind of oozy in a non moist kind of way!

What a cool post! Kendall is so into music these days (piano, viola, guitar) and has this funky little Beatles jacket that she loves, so this post was so neat to look at. "Imagine" is one of my favorite songs! Cheryl
